Calvey’s pony trekking and equestrian centre is located at Slievemore near the village of Keel in Achill.  We specialise in horse riding activities for all abilities.  There are daily pony treks to the Keel beach and sandybanks area, Deserted Village and Keel Lake.  Achill is an ideal equestrian activity location with over 35,000 acres of commonage to roam over, old bog roads to guide you to remote places with outstanding beauty and wildlife as well as many sandy beaches for a good gallop! We have by far, the best beach rides in the West.

We have pony treks that suit different abilities from a nervous novice to the more experienced horse rider who likes a thundering pace across the strand.  Whatever your horse riding experience, we will be able to accommodate your needs and make you feel safe and secure on your mount.  The pony trekking routes are carefully designed with various abilities in mind.

If you want some 'one to one' horse riding tuition at the equestrian centre we can also arrange lessons in Jumping, Dressage or to simply improve your confidence, we can all cater for all your equestrian needs with the help of our caring and qualified horse riding instructors.

For children we offer On or Off lead-rein lessons in the safety of our sand arena with the option of a small pony trek afterwards.  Children must be aged 6 years and over.  We also provide a fun morning on rainy days with lots of activites to keep your little ones occupied when it is too wet to be outdoors.

We ask that all pony treks and horse riding lessons at the pony trekking and equestrian centre be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.  We also ask that you contact us at least one week before your holiday to secure your booking with a deposit particularly in July and August.
